Peter Cave Bluff Overlook, located along Peter Cave Road is an iconic view of the Buffalo National River. The road is recommended for vehicles with high clearance. Water crossings during certain times of the year are only accessible with 4-wheel drive. Many old homesteads help to tell the story of the Buffalo National River. Peter Cave Road gets its name from the cave along the river used during the civil war to supply saltpeter to the troops for making bullets.
